Responsibilities

The Registered Dietitian, plans and directs preparation of diets as prescribed, and consults and counsels patients and relatives on special diet requirements. Is responsible for creating, managing and administering the organization’s outpatient nutrition program. Advise and counsel patients on food and nutrition in conjunction with the patient’s overall medical treatment plan.  

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Manages of kitchen daily activities and menu planning and executing for acute care patients.  

  • Establishes patient data base.
  • Consults sulting with physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Develops and implements dietary care plan, by assessing nutritional needs and determining resources.
  • Coordinating dietary program with health care providers, by enforcing and documenting compliance with hospital policies and procedures in regards to patient choice in food selection.
  • Formulates menus and diets, by integrating patients menus with institutional menus
  • Controls special diet meals
  • Verifies food preparation techniques by checking meals for palatability and appearance.
  • Develops food service personnel and designs and teaches in-service programs and monitoring results.
  • Educates patients and their families by teaching nutrition principles, diet regimens, and food selection, preparation and economics.
  • Promotes goals, reinforcing positive results, and offering comfort.
  • Provides information and answers questions in a timely and courteous manner
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
  • Establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Explain nutrition issues to clients.
  • Assess the dietary and health needs of clients and patients.
  • Develop meal plans for clients; gauge the effects of these meal plans.
  • Promote nutrition
  • Keep abreast of the latest research in nutritional and food sciences.
  • Additional duties will be assigned as needed

 

Qualifications

Experience, Education & Competency Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study.
  • Experience in managing of kitchen daily activities and menu planning and executing for acute care patients. 
  • One-year experience as a Dietitian or related role.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Highly organized.
  • Able to prioritize, multi-task and manage time to meet deadlines and time constraints.
  • Possess foresight to plan and prepare.
  • Must work well with all levels of persons and personalities. 

 

Certification/License/Registry Requirements

 

  • Licensed Registered Dietitian
