The Environmental Services Associate (EVS) play a critical role in hospital safety. They are responsible to clean the facilities to hospital standards. They aid in the prevention of communicable diseases by thoroughly sanitizing public areas and private rooms alike. Perform other housekeeping duties, like doing laundry and making sure cleaning supplies are well stocked and available.


Essential Functions

  • Responsible for cleaning all assigned patient rooms and areas of the hospital. 
  • Maintain routine cleaning & disinfecting of patient rooms, waiting rooms, restrooms, nursing stations.
  • Uses proper cleaning techniques and procedures including use of personal protective equipment. 
  • Maintains courteous, polite, and helpful manner to patients and visitors. 
  • Ensures proper storage of supplies and chemicals. 
  • Maintains the hospital facilities with consistent standards of order, cleanliness, and safety throughout the facility.
  • May assist in other areas of housekeeping as necessary.
  • Sanitize all surfaces in the patient rooms, waiting room, offices and common areas
  • Replenish clean linens throughout the center as needed.
  • Dust and damp wipe all surfaces in the facility including but not limited to hospital patient rooms, common areas, breakrooms, offices, conferences rooms
  • Check exterior grounds for trash and remove.
  • Vacuum and clean all floor surfaces as needed.
  • Report damage and needed repairs to appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality and sensitivity to residents' rights.
  • Proper use of chemical and chemical solutions, proper use of equipment and the care of.
  • Learn and use proper dilution for all chemicals.  
  • Learn the proper use of equipment and equipment care.  Meet OSHA standards for safety and learn use of MSDS labels
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during interactions and in on-going work related intereactions.
  • Perform other related duties as required, additional duties may be assigned.


Experience, Education & Competency Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • One year housekeeping experience, preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.   

Must work well with all levels of persons and personalities
