Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Mineral King Lab/Clinical Lab Supervisor, the Lead Forensic Toxicology Analyst performs toxicology, clinical, and clerical work.  Responsible for the daily working of Mineral King Laboratory.  Responsible for Title 17 forensic alcohol analysis.  Assist in maintenance of equipment, and to participate in Quality Control and Quality Assurance.


Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of Mineral King Laboratory.
  • Performs toxicology, clinical, and clerical work
  • Takes orders and answers questions over the phone.
  • Enters orders in the hospital computer system.
  • Performs typing and filing duties as needed.
  • Responsible for the separation and proper distribution of Laboratory reports.
  • Ensures adequate supplies and that equipment is in working order or is designated for repair.
  • Practices good safety habits, identifies, and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Practices proper infection Control guidelines as recommended by the CDC
  • Performs maintenance of equipment and participate in Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for Title 17 forensic alcohol analysis.
  • Follows HCCA rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards.
  • Carries out the mission, vision, and values of HCCA



Experience, Education & Competency Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, physics, biology or related field, required.
  • Degree in Toxicology, preferred.
  • College of American Pathologist or SAMHSA certifying scientist experience, preferred.
  • Five (5) years of toxicology testing experience, preferred.
  • Qualified by Title 17 to Forensic Alcohol Surpervisor, preferred.
  • CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist License, Medical Technologist License or Medical Lab Technologist, preferred.
  • CPR Certification, preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare-provider environment, preffered.
  • Able to work under pressure and relate to patients, family, hospital staff, and visitors in a professional manner.      
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment.
  • Able to prioritize, multi-task and manage time to meet deadlines and time constraints.
  • Must work well with all levels of persons and personalities.
