The Group X Instructor is responsible to teach Group Exercise classes in a professional, safe and fun manner to the members and guests of the Gym. Teach classes for members and guests of all fitness levels.  The instructor will teach within standard guidelines of specialty certifications.  Be responsible for all assigned classes including being prompt and ready to begin on time, ending class on time, set up prior to class and cleanup of general area after your class, which includes finding substitutes, should they be needed. Record participation numbers after every class and sign attendance sheet. Demonstrate accountability to schedule by avoiding missed classes and seek substitute instructors in advance.


Participate in departmental and staff meetings as scheduled.  Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.  Maintain knowledge of the facility, staff, services, fees, promotions, and hours of operations.  Have an understanding of contraindicated exercises and consistent use of safe and effective approach to exercise.  Stay current with latest research on exercise and accumulate 15 CEC's every 2 years.  Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals.  Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during interactions and in on-going work related relationships with all persons at the Gym.





Successful candidate must have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree in Health, Fitness or related field, preferred.
  • Min six months fitness experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPR/AED Certified (to be obtained within 30 days of hire and kept in good standing thereafter).
  • Possess nationally recognized certification, such as ACE, ACME, AFAA, AEA.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must work well with all levels of persons and personalities
